Your details stay close to home.

Your account name, email, and home address are private. We use your home location to find houses within 2–5 km. We don’t show visitor profiles or track your live location.

You choose when to open your door.

If you register a participating house, its address, map location, visiting details, and approved photo are shared with registered neighbours nearby. You can hide or delete the listing whenever you like.

A little kindness goes a long way.

Only register your own home. Respect visiting hours, don’t knock where you’re asked not to, and leave houses alone when they’ve finished for the night. Children should explore with a responsible adult.

Photos get a second look.

The organiser reviews photos before they appear. Please share your decorations rather than identifiable people, vehicle number plates, or personal information. We resize images and remove embedded metadata.

Local, by trust.

Home addresses are self-declared. Registration doesn’t verify someone’s identity or guarantee that they live nearby. Accounts and listings can be removed for misuse.

The services behind the app.

Hallowhere uses Neon for accounts and database storage, Vercel for hosting and photos, Mapbox for maps and address search, and Resend for email delivery. Address searches are sent to Mapbox to locate the selected home.

Need something changed?

For this small pilot, the organiser handles address changes, account deletion, and community concerns. A contact channel and final retention policy will be added before registration opens.
